“Yes, Grandma. I will.”

Hai Tong responded casually.

Even though Grandma Zhan was very good to her, Zhan Yin was her own grandson, and she was just her granddaughter-in-law. If there was a fight between them, would the Zhan family take her side?

Hai Tong felt doubtful.

Just like her sister's mother-in-law.

Before they got married, they treated her sister so well that their biological daughter was jealous.

After the marriage, they changed completely. Whenever her sister and brother-in-law fought, her mother-in-law accused her of being a bad wife.

So sons were always given priority, while daughters-in-law were always outsiders.

"You have to go to work, right? Then, I won't bother you. I will ask Ah Yin to pick you up for dinner together in the evening."

"Grandma, I'm closing up late. It might be too late for dinner. How about this weekend?"

Schools were closed on weekends and their bookstore's income depended on school activities. When the school closed, their business was slow and there was no need for her to open the store. So, she had free time.

“That’s okay.”

Grandma Zhan said thoughtfully, "We'll talk about it this weekend. You're busy first."

She took the initiative to end the call first.

Instead of going straight to the store, Hai Tong sent a message to her best friend, Shen Xiaojun, that she would be at the store before the students left school at noon.

When she had finished 'the important things in life', she had to go home first to tell her sister and move out of her house.

After more than ten minutes, Hai Tong arrived at her sister's house.

Her brother-in-law had gone to work and her sister was drying clothes on the balcony. When she saw her sister coming back, she asked worriedly, "Tongtong, why are you back? Aren't you opening today?"

"I'll go over at noon. It's very busy during the day. Is Yangyang awake yet?"

Zhou Yang was Hai Tong's nephew. He was two years old and mischievous.

"Not yet. If he wakes up, the house can't be so quiet."

Hai Tong went to help her sister dry the clothes and asked about last night.

"Tongtong, your brother-in-law isn't trying to kick you out. He's just under pressure and I have no income."

Hai Ling gave an explanation on her husband's behalf.

Hai Tong didn't say anything. Her brother-in-law kicked her out in a subtle way.

Her brother-in-law was working as a manager in a company with a high salary. He and his sister were classmates in college. They worked in the same company and later got married. After their marriage, her brother-in-law lovingly told her sister, "I will take care of you in the future. You just rest at home and prepare for pregnancy."

Her sister felt she had married the right man. She quit her job and became a housewife. One year after her marriage, she gave birth to a cute and fat baby. She was so busy raising her baby and taking care of her family that she had no time to dress up and take care of her body. Especially going back to work.

Within three years, her sister had turned from a beautiful young woman into a fat housewife. She dressed casually and didn't like to dress up.

Hai Tong and her sister were five years apart. Their parents died in a car accident when she was ten years old. She and her sister have been dependent on each other ever since.

The money from their parents' accident insurance was enough for the sisters to finish their studies, but their paternal grandparents demanded some. So did their maternal grandparents. The sisters used the rest to survive until they graduated.

Because the house in their hometown was occupied by their grandparents, Hai Tong and her sister rented a house outside. Until her sister got married, they were just finishing their lease.

Her sister doted on her so much that she had made an agreement with her brother-in-law before marriage that Hai Tong would still live with her after their marriage. Originally, her brother-in-law agreed, but now he began to hate her living here.

"Sister, I'm sorry. I've troubled you."

"No, Tongtong. Don't think like that! Our parents left early. You can count on me."

Hai Tong was touched for a moment. When she was a child, her sister was her support. Now, she would like to be her sister's support.

After a moment of silence, she took out her marriage certificate and handed it to her sister. Hai Tong said, "Sister, I am married. I just received my marriage certificate. I am back to tell you this. I'll pack up and move out later."

"You're married?"

Hai Ling raised her voice. It wouldn't be too much for her to scream.

She looked at her sister in disbelief and quickly grabbed the marriage certificate. When she opened it, it was really her sister's wedding photo with a strange man.

“Hai Tong, what's going on? Don't you have a boyfriend?"

The man on the marriage certificate was extremely handsome, but his eyes were sharp and cold. At first glance, he was not easy to get along with.

On the way back, Hai Tong had already thought of what to say and immediately said, "Sister, I've been talking about my boyfriend for a long time. His name is Zhan Yin. He is too busy with work and can't come with me to meet you."

"He asked me to marry him and I said yes. After that, we went to the Civil Affairs Bureau to get a marriage certificate. Sister, he is a very good man and treats me very well. Don't worry. I will be happy after the wedding."

Hai Ling was still unable to accept it.

She never heard her sister say she had a boyfriend, but now she said she was married.

Hai Ling thought about her fight with her husband last night. She thought that her sister might have heard it, which made her so sad that her eyes turned red. She said to her sister, "Tongtong, I have told your brother-in-law that you have already paid for the meal. So, you can rest assured. You don't have to get married and move out in a hurry."

She was sure that her sister's boyfriend had not known her for a long time, or else her sister would have told her.

The reason her sister got married today was because her brother-in-law didn't like her sister because she stayed in their house too long. She was in a hurry to get married today so that Hai Ling would not give her a red light.

Hai Tong smiled and comforted her sister. "Sister, it really has nothing to do with you. Zhan Yin and I have a good relationship. I will really be happy. Sister, you should be happy for me."

Hai Ling was still crying.

Hai Tong helplessly hugged her sister. When Hai Ling stopped crying and calmed down, Hai Tong made a promise to her sister. "Sister, I will come back to see you often. Zhan Yin's house is in Mingyuan Garden. It's not too far from here. It only takes ten minutes if I ride my electric bike."

"What about his family?"

What was done could not be undone. Hai Ling had no choice but to accept this reality and ask about her brother-in-law's family situation.

Hai Tong didn't really know much about the Zhan family. Even though she and Grandma Zhan had known each other for three months, she usually didn't ask much about the Zhan family. When Grandma Zhan talked to her, she just listened. All she knew was that Zhan Yin was the eldest grandson in the family and there were a number of younger brothers (including cousins) below him.

Zhan Yin worked for one of the largest companies in Guancheng. He had a car and a house, so his family's situation was not too bad. Hai Tong told her sister what she knew.

When Hai Ling heard that her brother-in-law had bought the house outright, she said, "This is his premarital property, Tongtong. Can you ask him to put your name on the title deed?"

At least if her sister's name was added to the title deed, it would be safe.
